The five year olds have really enjoyed the halloween unit. They are speaking really well together, and even singing in English at the tables! They are beginning to work really well in their teams, and I think they enjoy working together in the English classroom.

 Here is a song about the Teddy Bear's Picnic which we have been learning about. The children should bring their favourite teddy to school to play games and share cooking activities. Each class has a selected day to participate in the Teddy bear's picnic, please check the Silver Dawn Fleadh program carefully!

This game will help children learn cooking vocabulary.

Here are some photos from our unit on Autumn and Halloween.

For Halloween, the children have been busy with:
maths: Colour by number frankenstein
writing centre: Halloween words
the games table: haunted house
creative table: plasticine skeletons

On the science table, we have real animal bones to touch, observe, examine and draw. A very big thank you to Gloria's father, Antonio, for making the bones available for the children to study.

En Halloween los niños/as han trabajado sobre:

Matemáticas: Colorear números de Frankenstein.

Mesa de escritura: Lista de palabras de Halloween.

Mesa de juegos: La casa encantada.

Mesa de creatividad: Esqueletos de plastilina.

En la mesa de ciencias hemos tenido huesos reales de animales para tocar, observar, examinar y dibujar. Muchas gracias al padre de Gloria, Antonio, por traernos los huesos para quelsoniños/as pudieran investigar. Gracias a la Facultad de Veterinaria de la Universidad de Extremadura por facilitarnoslos.

The four year olds have been busy with the topic of Autumn. The activity centres have been:
maths: counting acorns
writing centre: a list of autumn words
the games table: alphabet puzzles
creative table: plasticine autumn trees

We have also begun using our science table, with leaves, chestnuts, walnuts, logs, corn and many other things for the children to investigate using magnifying glasses. When they have observed the items, they draw what they have seen.

Los niños/as de 4 años están muy ocupados con el tema: El otoño. Los centros de actividades han sido:

Matemáticas: Contar bellotas.

Centro de Escritura: lista de palabras de otoño.
Mesa de Juegos: puzzles de abecedarios.
Mesa de Creatividad: árboles de otoño de plastilina.

También, hemos empezado a usar la mesa de ciencias, con hojas, castañas, nueces, maíz, troncos y muchas más cosas que los niños/as tenían que investigar con lupas. Cuando terminaban la observación tenían que dibujar todo lo que habían observado.
