The four year olds have been busy reviewing all sounds and learning how to segment words. This is 4B (again) because Marta offered to video the activities. 4A is also doing a fantastic job!

Time to fight a fire!

The three year olds really enjoyed our unit on fire fighters. A big thank you to the ladies in the lunch room for helping paint our fire truck!

Sea Animals

The 4 year olds have been learning about the life cycle of frogs. They love the song "5 Speckled frogs". Here is a video:

Phonics 4 year olds

After the phonics course in Madrid, I've been trying to do more phonics as part of our daily routines.

This is what the 4 year olds do:
1: Review all sounds.
2: Learn some tricky/high frequency words (in context).
3: Spell out some topic words (segmenting).

Then we continue with our topic activities.

I didn't know if it would be work, but you can see they are fantastic! They love spelling the words too. I got the free printable cards here. They love practising in small groups in our literacy sessions too.

Only 4B is on the video, but the same activities are done with 4A, and they are fantastic too! (It is just quite difficult for me to video and teach at the same time! Thank you Marta).

Here are the five year olds with the last unit on pirates! The children are really trying hard to speak English in groups, and every day I'm giving special prizes to the children who are speaking English!

School Assembly: Wombat stew

The four year olds have been learning the story "Wombat stew" as part of the school project: Continents. The story is about a naughty dingo who wants to cook a wombat for his dinner, but some animals come to help.

For the assembly, some children acted out the story in the library for the students in year one and two. Due to the fact I was in Madrid on Monday and Tuesday attending a course "Phonics for Infants", we were unable to rehearse beforehand, for this reason, we decided to invite only students and record the children acting out the story.

As usual, the children were fantastic and needed very little prompting. A huge thank you to Marta and Ester, the students working with the 4 year olds who helped prepare the props, record the plays and practised with the children. And thank you Concha for uploading the videos! Here they are:
