Here are the 5 year olds with their first topic "School". I'm really pleased with their enthusiasm and participation in the group activities, and they are trying really hard to get prizes! They must speak a lot of English to get a sticker! This topic had a lot of worksheets to get the children used to working at the different tables, but the next topics use games and activities, to encourage speaking.

4 school

The four year olds have settled straight back into English after the holidays. They have a new hello song, and they love "Stand up, sit down". Here is a video:

5 school

The 5 year olds have been very busy adapting to the new way of working in English. They are working well in teams, and speaking lots of English at the tables. First, we sing songs and learn vocabulary on the carpet, then the teachers go and look to see which table they are going to. The teachers call their team members to the table and get all the materials they need (pencils, crayons, etc). Then they complete the activities. They speak lots of English, and then tidy up. When they are in the line ready to go, I ask the teachers 3 questions to see how their team was, and if they spoke English. If they worked well and spoke English, they get a sticker. Once they have 5 stickers they will get a prize. Here is a short video to show how well they have been working:

The 5 year olds have been busy reviewing vocabulary related to school and getting used to working in their groups. They are beginning to mix Spanish with English to complete the activities.

Here are some of my favourite quotes:
Carlotta: "es un pencil"
Marta: "estoy trabajando con un pencil"
Marcos: "nos toca eight"
Amelie: "seven no esta coloreado"
Emma: "mira, aquí three y two"

Nearly all of the children ask the "teachers" for rubbers, pencils, crayons and sharpeners in English, and they are trying hard to speak in English at the tables.
