Muñecos de nieve (The Snowmen)

En clase de inglés estamos estudiando el invierno.
In the English class we have been finding out about Winter.

Fue una suerte que nevara en Cáceres el día antes de terminar las vacaciones. Así los niños y niñas pudieron ver y tocar la nieve.
Luckily, it snowed in Caceres the day before we finished the holidays, so, the children could see and touch the snow.

Todos los días en clase vemos un cuento de invierno. En estos cuentos siempre aparece un muñeco de nieve.
Everday in the class we read a story about Winter. In these stories there always was a Snowman.
Los niños aprenden vocabulario sobre el invierno y sobre las ropas que nos ponemos en invierno: gorro, guantes, bufanda.
The children learnt vocabulary about Winter and Winter clothes. For example, hat, gloves and scarf.

Aprenden sin darse cuenta, de forma divertida a través de los cuentos, las canciones y las rimas.
They learn in a fun way through stories, songs and rhymes, without realising it.

Santa's Grotto

En la última semana ha venido al colegio Santa. Le hemos recibido en la Biblioteca y los niños le han entregado una carta con sus peticiones. Santa ha repartido besos y piruletas gigantes que estaban muy buenas… algunos estaban un poco asustados con esta visita inesperada.
This last week Father Christmas came to the school. The children went to see him in the Library. The children took letters describing what they wanted for Christmas. Father Christmas gave them all kisses and big lollipops. However, some of the children were a little frightened by this unexpected visitor.

Jugamos y aprendemos (Play and learn)

Otro día, los más mayores jugaron a “comer el chocolate”, Tiraban un dado gigante y cuando alguien sacaba el número 6 tenía que ponerse un gorro, unos guantes y una bufanda… y luego comer una chocolatina con tenedor… ¡Qué difícil!

The other day the 5 year olds played a game eat the mars bar´. They had to throw a big dice and when it landed on the number 6, they had to run to the table, put on a hat, gloves and a scarf, then eat a mars bar with a fork It was difficult!

Christmas Party

Antes de terminar las clases se celebró una fiesta con Julie en la clase de inglés.
Before we finished the classes, we had a party, with Julie in the EnglishClass.

Primero jugamos a las sillas musicales. Era muy divertido, aunque a veces, sobre todo a los pequeños no les gustaba quedar fuera y volvían a bailar. ¡Qué lío!
First, we played the game ´musical chairs´. It was great fun, although sometimes. The little ones didn´t like to be out of the game and kept joining in again. What a mess!

La fiesta en 5 años (Early 5 Years' Party)


También jugamos al “paquete sorpresa”… y todos los niños y niñas tuvieron premio… una golosina.
Then we played ´Pass the parcel´ and all the children received a prize – a sweet.

La fiesta en 3 años (Early 3 Years' Party)


Luego todos se sentaron a comer cosas ricas en la fiesta… patatas fritas, aperitivos y rosquillas… y para beber refrescos… aunque algunos prefirieron agua.
Next, everyone sat down to eat – crisps, biscuits and soft drinks. Although some preferred water.

“We wish you a Merry Christmas”

En los últimos días de clase los niños han aprendido mucho vocabulario referido a las fiestas navideñas.
In the past few days, the children in early years have been learning vocabulary related to Christmas.

También han ensayado el villancico en inglés para el festival de infantil. El villancico ha sido: Father Christmas.
Also, they have sung a Christmas carol in the Christmas concert. The carol was Father Christmas.

Y todos, incluso los más pequeños han aprendido a decir: “Quiero un regalo”.
Everybody including the little ones have been learning to say “I want a present”.

The School Assembly about The Gruffalo

El pasado 4 de diciembre realizamos la tercera “Asamblea Escolar”.
On the 4th of December we did our tirad School Assembly

Esta vez se pretendía que los niños y niñas explicaran el trabajo que habían realizado en clase sobre la autora del mes: Julia Donaldson.
The children wanted to talk about the work that they had been doing in class about the author of the month – Julia Donaldson.


En infantil escogimos el libro “The Gruffalo” de esta autora. Uno de sus clásicos. Todos los grupos lo han trabajado en clase y han aprendido su vocabulario.
In Early Years, the children chose the story The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. It is a classic. All the groups have been doing activities and learning vocabulary.

Para esta asamblea, el alumnado de cinco años representó una adaptación de este cuento.
In this assembly, the children of 5 years acted out this story.

Sus cinco personajes: El ratón, el zorro, el búho, la serpiente y, por supuesto, El Gruffalo hablaron de un ratoncito muy listo y valiente.
There were 5 characters. The Mouse, fox, owl, snake and, of course, The Gruffalo. The book was about a clever and brave mouse.

Un grupo de niños explicaba lo que iba a suceder y otro grupo describía a ese terrible monstruo.
One group of children explained what was going to happen and the otherse described what the terrible monster looked like.

Todos los niños han aprendido mucho con esta experiencia.
All the children learned a lot with this activity.

The Gruffalo

Ahora hemos empezado a leer The Gruffalo, que es un libro de Julia Donaldson, autora británica a la que está dedicado este mes en la Biblioteca… Seguro que a todos nos gusta. Ya os contaremos más sobre esta historia.

Now, we have started to read The Gruffalo. This is a story written by the English author Julia Donaldson. She is the author of the month in the library. We are sure that everyone will like her stories. Later we will tell you more about this story.

Trabajamos en inglés (We are working)

En las clases de inglés, trabajamos con cuentos y canciones para introducir el vocabulario.

In the English Class, we use stories and songs to introduce vocabulary and sentences.

Julie narra el cuento, los niños ven sus dibujos, lo tocan, pasan las páginas. Otras veces hacen una representación del cuento. A tod@s les gusta actuar, sobre todo a los más mayores.

Julie tells the story, the children listen to the story and look at the pictures. Sometimes they act out the story. Everybody likes to re enact the story, especially the older children.

Los niños hacen figuras de plastilina, pican, recortan, pegan…, algunos hasta escriben alguna frase relacionada con el cuento. A veces hacen un pequeño libro para llevarlo a casa. Otras veces en plástica, utilizando el pincel y las témperas hacen los grandes dibujos que luego están por los pasillos y que les siguen recordando las historias.

The children make characters out of plastecine and cut and stick. Some children write out sentences relating to the story. Sometimes they make a little book to take home. Also, in the Art room, the children paint big pictures which re-tell the stories.

Durante el primer mes se ha trabajado “Caperucita Roja”… Seguro que todos los papás y las mamás han visto los dibujos en la entrada, subiendo las escaleras… y seguro que también han escuchado a sus hijos cantar: “La, la, la la, lita, I’m going to Granny’s house”, o decir… “I want to eat you” o, “Your nose is big”.

Last month they have been doing “Little Red Riding Hood”. We are sure the dads and mums have seen the paintings in the entrance of the school. AS well, they have head the children singing “La, la, la la, lita, I’m going to Granny’s house”, or saying “I want to eat you” or, “Your nose is big”.
