Semana Cultural (Culture Week)
También hemos preparado la Semana Cultural, en español y en inglés con todo lo que hemos aprendido en clase sobre China, sus monumentos, costumbres, comidas, deportes, inventos… y con el teatro sobre el año nuevo chino, realizado en español y en inglés por los niños y niñas de 5 años.

Las Habas
Recogimos habas en el huerto con Concha y con Fabiola.
Also, we collected beans from the allotment with Concha and Fabiola.
Algunos niños de los tres cursos de infantil estuvieron haciendo las tortillas de habas con niños de otros cursos. Luego se lo explicamos a nuestros compañeros. Estaban muy ricas.
Some children in Early years have been making omelettes with children from other years. Then they explained how they had made them. They tasted delicious.

Semana del Libro (Book Week)
Celebramos la Semana del Libro y vino Pep Bruno, nuestro autor preferido, a contarnos cuentos muy divertidos. Pero Pétala es el cuento que más nos sigue gustando.
We celebrated Book Week and our favourite author, Pep Bruno came to the school. He read some very funny stories, but we liked Petala the best.

Spring
Hace mucho que no escribimos en el blog por pequeños problemas técnicos, pero no por eso hemos dejado de hacer cosas muy interesantes.
It's been a long time since we wrote in the blog, but we have still been doing interesting things.
Después de vacaciones de Semana Santa recibimos a la primavera con flores. Hemos estudiado los animales salvajes y domésticos y sabemos que los gusanos se convierten en mariposas.
After Easter, we started Spring by learning about flowers, wild and domestic animals. We now know that caterpillars change into butterflies.
It's been a long time since we wrote in the blog, but we have still been doing interesting things.

Pascua / Easter
Las vacaciones al terminar el segundo trimestre, son las vacaciones de Semana Santa o Pascua.
Next week are the Easter holidays.
En Gran Bretaña se celebra la Pascua con chocolate y juegos donde hay que encontrar pequeños huevos de chocolate.
In England, they celebrate Easter with chocolate easter eggs and games where they find the eggs.
La gente también celebra la primavera y la nueva vida. Por ejemplo, el nacimiento de los animales.
People are also celebrating the season Spring and the new life. For example baby animals being born.
En la última semana de clase, los niños han podido hacer bonitas cestas de pascua, con cereales y chocolate fundido.
Last week, in the English class, the children made Easter baskets with cereal and melted chocolate.
Partíamos el chocolate y lo fundíamos en el microondas.
We broke up the chocolate and melted it in the microwave
Mezclábamos los cereales con el chocolate fundido y lo poníamos en pequeños moldes de papel.
We mixed the cereals with the melted chocolate and put the mixture in the cases.
Para terminar lo decoraban con huevos de chocolate o dulces de chocolate. Esto se deja en el frigorífico, para que el chocolate se endurezca.
Then, we decorated then with chocolate eggs and sweets. Then we left them in the fridge too harder.
Estaba buenísimo. Tanto, que algunos no podían dejar de probarlo.
They were delicious. So much so, that when were eating them, it was difficult not too eat them.
Las cestitas las han llevado a casa.
They have taken the Easter baskets home.
También han aprendido canciones con huevos de Pascua.
As well, they have learnt a song about Easter.
Para terminar, el viernes, Julie escondió huevos de chocolate por el patio y los niños salieron a buscarlos y a comérselos.
At the end of the week, Julie hid eggs in the playground and the children had to find them.

BUTTER BISCUITS
En inglés estamos trabajando los alimentos. Se estudia el vocabulario de todo lo que comemos a través de cuentos, canciones, poesías, recetas… también a la hora del bocadillo aprendemos a decir que alimentos traemos.
In the English class we are learning about food. We have been learning vocabulary through stories, songs, poems and recipes. As well, when it is the time for snack we learn the names of the food that we bring to school.
Por eso, durante esta semana hemos ido a la cocina del colegio y hemos hecho galletas de mantequilla que luego hemos cocido en el microondas.
This week we have been to the school kitchen. We made biscuits and then we cooked them in the microwave.
El lunes fueron los niños de la clase de 5 años, y como era el primer día, algunas galletas se partieron porque las habíamos hecho muy finas, otras se tostaron un poco porque no calculamos bien el tiempo… pero otras quedaron buenísimas. Los niños se las comieron en clase.
The first group to do this on Monday were the 5 year olds. Because it was the first day, some biscuits were burnt in the microwave and some were too thin. But the others were delicious. The children ate them in the classroom.
El martes fueron los niños de 4 años y esta vez a Concha se le olvidó la harina y tuvimos que esperar un rato para empezar a hacerlas, pero las galletas quedaron mejor que el primer día. Los niños se las llevaron a casa.
Then on Tuesday, it was the 4 year olds turn. Concha forgot the flour and we had to wait a while before we could start to make them. But the biscuits were delicious and the children took them home.
El viernes estuvimos en la cocina con los niños de 3 años… y esta vez no hubo ningún problema. Las galletas quedaron buenísimas y todos se pudieron llevar sus galletas a casa.
On Friday we went with the 3 year olds to the kitchen. This time we didn’t have any problems. The biscuits were delicious and the children took them home.
Seguro que les piden a sus padres que les ayuden a hacer más galletas ya que son muy fáciles de hacer. Podéis ver la receta.

Saint Valentine's Day
El Día de San Valentín es una celebración tradicional de países anglosajones que se ha ido implantando en otros países a lo largo del siglo XX.
Saint Valentine’s Day is a traditional celebration of Anglo-Saxon countries that has been passed down to other countries in the 20th century.
Aunque en España se habla del día de los enamorados, en Gran Bretaña era tradición celebrar este día como día del Amor y la Amistad.
Although in Spain, we call it the day of the lovers. In Great Britain it is a tradition to celebrate this day with love and friendship.
Por eso, los niños de infantil, además de celebrar los carnavales en esta semana, recibiendo cada día a La Patarrona, han preparado tarjetas de San Valentín, para regalar a sus padres, hermanos, familiares.
As well, the children have been celebrating Carnaval this week. Each day the have visited The Patarrona. Also, they have prepared Saint Valentine cards to give to their parents, brothers, sisters and families.

Jack and the Beanstalk or Jack and the Magic Beans
JACK Y LA MATA DE HABAS
Hemos trabajado durante estos días el cuento de "Jack y la Mata de Habas", o "Jack y las Habichuelas Mágicas".
We have been working on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk or Jack and the Magic Beans, a few days.
Es un cuento que a los niños les gusta mucho.
The children like this story very much.
Después de contarlo en clase varias veces, en el aula de manualidades han preparado las grandes hojas que forman la mata de habas. Pronto prepararemos los personajes para decorar los pasillos con el cuento.
After we have told the story various times. We went to the Art Room and painted big leaves for the beanstalk. Soon we will paint the characters who will decorate the passageway.
Ahora estamos haciendo lo que más les gusta. Representarlo. Para ello, Julie ha preparado un escenario estupendo. El castillo del gigante y la mata de habas, además de los elementos del cuento, el arpa dorada, los huevos de oro y el dinero…
Now we are acting act the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. In the classroom there is a giant’s castle, a big beanstalk, golden harp, golden eggs and money.
