Phonics term two.

Here are the literacy objectives for term two, for each age group. Ester and I are preparing information sessions about synthetic phonics for parents, but in the meantime, here are some things to practice at home. Of course, you don't need to do all the activities. Remember to have fun!

Three year olds:
Jolly Phonics groups 1 (s,a,t,i,p,n), 2 (c,k,e,h,r,m,d) and 3 (g,o,u,l,f,b). Initial sounds (sun: S-u-n),
Blending/segmenting CVC words, and recognising rhyming words.

Four year olds:
All sounds, but especially (ch,sh,th,ng,qu, and vowels ou,oi,oo,ar,er,or)
Tricky words: you,your,come,some,said,here,there,they,go,so,no,my.
Inital/ending sounds, rhyming words, blending/segmenting.
