Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, as part of the morning routine, the three year olds sing this song:
"Bee bee, bumble bee, can you sing your name to me?"
"My name is _______!"
Usually they sing it quite well, but a few were camera shy when we took the video! We hope you enjoy watching it!

Los martes y los jueves por la mañana, como parte de las rutinas, los niños/as de tres años cantamos esta canción:

"Bee, bee, bumble bee, puedes cantar tu nombre para mi?

Me llamo ________"

Normalmente lo cantan muy bien, pero algunos al ver la cámara sintieron vergüenza al grabar el video. Esperamos que disfrutéis viendolo.

PEACE DAY: FEELINGS

Para celebrar el Día de la Paz y la No Violencia los niños y niñas de Infantil en las clases de inglés hablamos de nuestros sentimientos.

Estamos expresando lo que sentimos cuando estamos felices por tener una familia, un hogar y una escuela donde nos quieren y aprendemos mucho y también como se siente los niños y niñas que no lo tienen, que tienen que trabajar, que están solos, hambrientos, cansados, tristes...

Aprendemos la canción "How are you?" para preguntarnos cómo nos sentimos. Nos gusta mucho y por eso la ponemos aquí para escucharla muchas veces.

To celebrate Peace Day in the Early Years classroom we are talking about feelings. We have learnt how we feel when we are happy for having a family, a home, a school where they love us and we learn a lot and also how some children feel because they haven´t got these things, they have to work, they are alone, they are hungry, tired, sad...

We are learning the "How are you?" song to ask each other how we feel. We like it so much that we put it here to listen to many times.

Como sabéis, hemos estado aprendiendo sobre el invierno y la nieve en las clases de infantil. Aqui tenéis unos enlaces del cuento "the Snowman"que hemos leido.

Here are the 4 year olds acting out the story of "5 little Snowmen".
Aquí están los niños/as de 4 años representando el cuento de "los cinco muñecos de nieve".

Winter activities

The children have been busy with winter activities! The 3 year olds have made snowmen by drawing faces and gluing cotton onto the bodies. The 4 year olds are in the process of making some snowmen using plastic plates and adding hats and scarves. The 5 year olds enjoyed designing and cutting their own snowflakes!

Los niños/as están muy ocupados realizando actividades sobre el invierno. Los niños/as de 3 años han hecho muñecos de nieve dibujando sus caras y pegando algodón en sus cuerpos. Los de 4 años están haciendo sus muñecos con platos de plástico y añadiéndoles gorros y bufandas. Los de 5 años están diseñando y cortando copos de nieve.

Water science: part 2.

Once the water became ice, we decided to see how long it would take to become water again. We found that the heat of our hands made the sides of the ice melt after a while and then we put the ice into a bottle. The blue and yellow mixed to make green, but by the end of the day, there were still ice cubes!
We also discovered that water can disappear when it is really hot! We drew a line on the kettle to see where the water was, and after the kettle boiled, some water had disappeared!
When the ice had finally melted, we decided to add more blue water to the green water to see if the water changed colour. Some children said it would turn blue, others said green, and a couple said yellow.
We discovered that:
Blue + green = green.
Yellow + a little blue = light green
Yellow + a lot of blue = dark green.
The children really enjoyed the guessing the outcome and seeing the results of this experiment!

Cuando el agua se convirtió en hielo, decidimos observar cuánto tardaría en convertirse en agua otra vez . Descubrimos que el calor de nuestras manos que los laterales del hielo se deshagan después de un rato. Y luego pusimos el hielo en una botella. El azul y amarillo se mezclaron para hacerese verde, pero al final del día quedaban todavía trocitos de hielo.
También descubrimos que el hielo puede desaparecer cuando hace mucho calor. Dibujamos una línea en la tetera para ver hasta donde llegaba el agua, y después de que el agua hirvió , parte del agua había desaparecido.
Cuando el hielo finalmente se deshizo, decidimos añadir más agua azul al agua verde para ver si el agua cambiaba de color. Algunos niños/as dijeron que se volvería azul, otros verdes y dos dijeron que amarillo.
Descubrimos que:
Azul + verde = verde
Amarillo + un poquito de azul = verde claro
Amarillo + y bastante azul = verde oscuro

Los niños disfrutaron adivinando los cambios y viendo los resultados de los experimentos.

RECORDANDO A JULIE

¡Nos ha escrito Julie! Nos ha dejado un comentario diciéndonos que se alegra mucho de vernos en el blog y que nos echa mucho de menos.
Julie ha sido nuestra profesora de inglés muchos años y la queremos mucho. Volvió a Inglaterra y esperamos que sea muy feliz allí pero deseamos que venga a vernos pronto.
We love you Julie and we miss you a lot. We wish you the best for this New year, but please don´t forget us.

Water science: part 1.

The 5 year olds have been looking at the process of making ice. We discussed what we would need, how to make it, and then we tried to guess how long it would take for water to become ice.
1. Water.
2. Colour (this was to help with part 2 of the experiment).
3. Water into cups.
4. Cups into freezer.

Some of the children suggested it would take one or two minutes to become ice, while other children said 20 hours. One child said 50 days! You can see the steps of the experiment in the photos, but the most important part was speaking and sharing ideas, counting and guessing the outcome.

Los niños/as de 5 años han estado observando el proceso de hacer hielo. Hablamos sobre lo que se necesita, como hacerlo y luego trataron de adivinar cuanto tiempo tardaría en convertirse el agua en hielo.
1- Agua
2. Colorante ( para ayudarnos en la segunda parte del experimento)
4. Agua en vasitos.
5. Vasitos en el congelador.

Algunos niños/as sugirieron que tardaría uno o dos minutos en hacerse hielo, otros dijeron que 20 horas y alguno que 50 días. Podéis ver algunos de los pasos del experimento en las fotos, pero lo más importante es que los niños/as realicen hipóteis que comprobarán si son ciertas o no al final del experimento, que hablen en la asamblea y aporten lo que saben, sus ideas previas, que cuenten sus experiencias e intenten averiguar lo que va a ocurrir.

5 little snowmen

The children are learning about winter through a story called "5 little snowmen". We are revising parts of the face and winter clothing and the concept of melting. Here are the four year olds with their version of the story.

Los niños/as están aprendiendo sobre el invierno a traves de la historia titulada "Five little snowmen" "Los cinco muñecos de nieve". Estamos revisando las partes de la cara, las ropas de invierno y el concepto de derretirse. Aqui tenéis la versión de los niños/as de 4 años de la historia.

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a lovely holiday with friends and family and that 2011 is a wonderful year for you!
The month of December kept us very busy in the English classroom!
The 3 year olds learnt the story of 'The 3 little pigs', the 4 year olds learnt 'Goldilocks and the 3 bears' and the 5 year olds learnt the story of Peter Pan, and enjoyed a trip to the theatre to see the musical.
And of course, we were very busy preparing for the arrival of Father Christmas and the 3 kings!
Here are some photos of the children at the christmas concert. They all did a fantastic job in English and Spanish!

Feliz Año Nuevo! Esperamos que hayáis tenido a una magníficas vacaciones con vuestros amigos y familiares y que 2011 sea un maravilloso año para vosotros!

¡El mes de diciembre ha estado repleto de actividades en las clases de inglés!

Los niños/as de 3 años aprendieron el cuento "The 3 litlle pigs" "Los 3 cerditos", los de 4 años aprendieron "Goldilocks and the 3 bears" " Ricitos de oro y los 3 osos" y los de 5 años aprendieron el cuento de Peter Pan, y disfrutaron con la salida al Gran Teatro a ver el musical.

Y por supuesto hemos estado muy ocupados preparando la llegada de Father Christmas (Santa Claus) y los 3 Reyes Magos. Aqui tenéis algunas fotos de los niños/as en el festival de Navidad. Hicieron un trabajo fantástico en español y en inglés.
